High intensity interval training or HITT Cardio is a workout that goes between high levels of intense training combined with less intense (cooldown) periods of exercise. This can be as simple as sprinting for a 2 minute window and then a 2 minute cool off period with jogging, walking etc. Because of the simplistic approach and proven results, more people are taking to this fat blasting routine which can be done in as little as 15 minutes.
More Effective Than Basic Cardio
One of the reasons the HITT cardio workout routine works so well, is that you focus intense periods of time on a specific routine, instead of dragging it out. In fact, the American College of Sports Medicine offers a study on this program that in a 2 week period, women who followed this routine had better endurance training results than women who followed a basic aerobic set of exercises over a 6 to 8 week period of time. With effective HITT cardio workouts ranging from 5 €“ 20 minutes, there is also a routine you can do in any span of time you have available.

While dieting alone can help to reduce the weight on your body, it also causes you to lose both fat and muscle. The intense workout actually helps to build muscle on your body and ensures you lose fat over actual muscle mass.
You should always speak with your doctor before you begin a HIIT cardio routine. This is intense exercise and is going to put some strain on your heart in the beginning. You need to ensure that it will be something you can safely handle. Over time, your improved cardiovascular system will continue to benefit from this type of training as it will help to reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke. Not to mention the chiseled abs & amped metabolism that will inevitably occur with HIIT.
